5.4.26 – You’re Not Missing the Shot. You’re Missing the Lens.

You’re Not Missing the Shot. You’re Missing the Lens.

Walk into a gym. Grab a basketball. Start shooting.

You know where the rim is.

Replace with your image

You’ve seen it thousands of times.

But this time something feels off.

The depth is wrong. The edges aren’t sharp. The target isn’t clear.

Because you forgot one thing.

You didn’t put your contacts in.

You still know where the basket is.

But your chances of missing just went up.

Nothing about the game changed:

  • The rim didn’t move
  • The distance didn’t change
  • Your mechanics are the same
  • Your experience is still there

But your lens did.

And that changes everything.

This is where most people misunderstand change.

They focus on the action.

They try to adjust the shot.

They tweak the motion.

They put in more reps.

But they never stop to ask:

Am I even seeing this clearly?

The first step to change isn’t action.

It’s adjusting your lens.

Your lens governs everything:

  • How you see situations
  • How you interpret outcomes
  • What you believe is working
  • What you fail to notice

If the lens is off then the conclusions will be too.

This is where real change begins.

Not by reacting.

But by examining.

Objectively looking at how you process what’s in front of you.

Challenging it.

Defending it.

Breaking it down enough to understand:

What’s actually helping you and what isn’t.

Because you can’t fix what you’re not seeing correctly.

When you take the time to examine your lens:

  • You start weeding out what has no value
  • You recognize what’s missing
  • You identify flawed assumptions
  • You begin to see patterns that were always there

Now you’re operating with the direction of clear input.

Go back to the gym.

Same ball. Same rim. Same player.

But this time… you put your contacts in.

The target sharpens.

The depth returns.

The adjustments you make actually connect to reality.

Now your shot has a chance.

Most people are trying to improve their shot…

while still seeing the game blurry.

Without correcting the lens first, effort gets misapplied.

Repetition reinforces the wrong things.

And outcomes stay the same.

Not because change is impossible.

But because the first step was skipped.

If you don’t change how you see,

you won’t change what happens.

Transformation doesn’t start with doing more.

It starts with seeing better.

Adjust the lens.

Then act.

Shift how you think

and change what happens next.
